Birgit Geoerger, Gustave Roussy, France
Birgit Geoerger is a pediatric oncologist in the pediatric and adolescent oncology department at Gustave Roussy. She has an international career, with a medical thesis, training in pediatrics and oncology at the universities of Mainz, Aachen, Essen, and Cologne in Germany, a postdoctoral fellowship in Philadelphia, USA, a PhD in Amsterdam, Netherlands, a specialization in oncology, and a habilitation to supervise research (University of Paris). Internationally recognized for her expertise in the development of new drugs, she heads the clinical trial center for pediatric oncology, labeled by INCa (CLIP²-2015-2024), which includes the hospitals of Gustave Roussy, Robert Debré, and Trousseau. She also leads the CNRS UMR 8203 research group on “Precision Medicine and Experimental Therapeutics.” In 2006, she was awarded the Gustave Roussy Prize by the Chancelleries of the Universities of Paris Sorbonne.
Since 1998, she has been a member of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the French Society of Pediatric Oncology (SFCE) since 2002. In addition, she chairs the clinical trials committee and is a member of the Biology consortium and the executive committee of the European consortium Innovate Therapies for Children with Cancer (ITCC). She is also a member of multiple scientific committees, editorial boards, and advisory councils.
Dr. Birgit Geoerger has authored more than 100 Medline-referenced articles, some of which were published in leading peer-reviewed journals (IF > 10).
