General information

About the conference

An increasing number of European countries had been adapting clinical cancer (gen)omics programs, including whole genome and transcriptome sequencing (WGTS), to enable cancer precision medicine and support research and a learning healthcare system aimed at improving care for future cancer patients.

This meeting was the first in what is intended to become an annually recurring series. It brought together researchers and medical specialists involved in these programs or interested in genomics-based and data-driven cancer care and research. The current state-of-the-art of implementations in routine care, research highlights, clinical impact, and future developments were presented and discussed.

The 2025 edition of this meeting was initiated as part of the 10th anniversary of the Hartwig Medical Foundation from the Netherlands and was co-organized by Genomics England, DKFZ/MASTER/NCT, Genomic Medicine Sweden, the 2025 French Genomic Medicine Initiative, and the Danish National Genome Center.

We were proud to have presented an exciting line-up of internationally leading experts. Furthermore, we were delighted that, thanks to the generous contributions of our sponsors, the registration fees could be kept to a minimum, and international attendees traveling by train were offered a sustainability discount.

Date
Thursday 20 and Friday 21 March 2025. KIT, Amsterdam

Target Audience

  • Medical specialists in oncology domain interested in genomics and precision medicine
  • Molecular pathologists
  • Cancer genomics researchers
  • Genomics data scientists, computational biologists
  • Healthcare professionals from various countries

Sessions, topics and speakers
There were four sessions with both invited and abstract-selected speakers. The following topics were covered:

  • Current state of the art: Overview of European national cancer whole genome sequencing initiatives and EU 1+MG
  • The clinical perspective: implementation and impact
  • The research perspective: Big data analyses and impact on clinic
  • The future perspective: data-driven cancer care

For the last three sessions, several speakers were selected based on submitted abstracts. Prior to the first poster session, there were flash talks, allowing poster presenters to pitch their work.

Posters and abstract-selected speakers
Participants were able to highlight their research with a poster. Submission of an abstract was mandatory. The program committee also selected speakers for sessions 2, 3, and 4 based on the submitted abstracts. During registration, participants could indicate whether they preferred a poster only or a poster/oral contribution.

Abstracts (maximum 500 words in Word format) had to be submitted during registration. Submission without registration was not possible.
Abstract submission deadline: January 15, 2025
Abstracts published from: March 3, 2025

Pre-meeting workshop
A pre-meeting workshop was held on Wednesday, March 19, focused on comprehensive analysis of cancer genomics data, international standardization, and data sharing. The functionality, use, and future directions of the open-source and multiplatform nf-core Oncoanalyser pipeline were discussed in both plenary and interactive sessions. The workshop was free of charge, but with limited seats, and participation was only possible in combination with attending the CCG2025 meeting.

Opportunities to interact and social events

Coffee and tea breaks, lunches, and poster sessions provided ample opportunities to interact with other participants, speakers, and sponsors.
At the end of the first day, a reception and walking dinner were organized. The second and final day concluded with drinks and snacks. Both social events were included in the registration.
